Jay Z "4:44" New Album Teasers
June 28th, 2017 Jay Z released a few teasers VIA the Sprint Youtube Channel. For those of you who don't know, Sprint bought Tidal. Tidal is his exclusive music streaming subscription service. He has hosted music from various popular artists.
Recently Taylor Swift switched it up a little and returned her music to Spotify after a long period of beef with them over the fact that they were allowing listeners to stream her music for free. She had taken her music from Spotify and instead made it available to stream through Tidal.
Now she's beefing with Apple and has returned her music to Spotify. That's a whole different story that can be read about here. Swift is one of many artists though who have utilized Jay Z's streaming service.
His new album drops June 30th, 2017 and of course is only available through Tidal. We have a few previews that illustrate what you are in for though here:
It appears as though he is taking a sort of approach that many underground producers and artists are by going for a sort of darker appeal. From the short little clips that we have seen here it looks like he's kind of getting back to his roots using old-school samples.
It does sort of remind us a little of the "Grey Album," which if any of you remember that, someone actually mixed Jay Z's "Black Album" and the Beatles "White Album" together. I remember when it came out in 2004. It was mixed by Dangermouse back before he was really a big name. I felt like it was a cool concept but maybe it was the copy I had, it just wasn't that high quality, which bothered me a little.
Let us know what you think about his new album.
